Summary
SonicSG is a large-scale interactive light installation in the Singapore River close to the Civic District in the shape of the island nation that will allow visitors to extend a field of LED lights with ‘sonified personal pixels’ that can be created through mobile devices. Using the visitors’ location relative to the actual field of lights or to their Singapore postal codes, the networked devices will be individually addressable. ‘Personal pixels’ will connect them to each other through sound and light patterns.
The project celebrated Singapore’s achievements by fostering a holistic understanding of the ways in which technology is changing our thinking about design and the built environment and how its proliferation in high-density urban contexts such as Singapore can improve connectivity and, just as importantly, reflect a sense of place.
I was responsible of designing and creating user interactions and animating the lights.
